Mayor's Christmas Tree Lighting

December 4

On Thursday, December 4, join the mayor in kicking off the holiday season with the 3rd annual Mayor's Christmas Tree Lighting. The event takes place at Rotary Park on Bolivar Street. Come to the Manger

December 4-6

The Church of Latter-day Saints, 4618 Henwick Lane, will host the 8th annual Come to the Manger December 4-6. On Thursday and Friday the display will be open from noon to 8 p.m. and on Saturday it will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This nativity set display features more than 300 works of art that range from elegant and elaborate to handmade and humble. The nativities fill the entire church and include both small and large versions. Members of the community donate their nativities for this display. There is a special children’s section for a hands-on experience. The event is free to the public and handicap accessible. Living Windows

December 5

The Living Windows takes place in downtown Jefferson City from 6-9 p.m. Storefronts and windows come alive with dancers, singers, religious and holiday themes. Carriage rides and hayrides wind their way through the streets and Santa Claus makes his yearly visit to Exchange Bank. Free Admission. For more information contact Sam Bushman at (573) 634-7267.

Candlelight Tours

December 5-6

Each Holiday Season the Governor's Mansion is beautifully decorated. Many enjoy visiting during the holiday season. Tours are free and open to the public. Tours will be given from 7 - 9 p.m. Friday, December 5, and from 4 - 6 p.m. Saturday, December 6. For more information call (573) 751-7929.

13th Annual Capital City Speed Skating Championships

December 6

The Washington Park Ice Arena will host the 11th annual Speed Skating Championships on Saturday, December 6, 2007, from approximately 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. More than 60 skaters from all across Missouri, as well as from Oklahoma, Texas and Illinois, will compete in this unique event. Join Jefferson City in celebrating the holiday season with this year's Christmas parade. The parade will take place December 6 at 2:00 p.m. in downtown Jefferson City. Old Munichberg Kristkendelfest

Journey to Bethlehem

Capital City Christian Church, 1512 Swifts Highway, presents Journey to Bethlehem from 6:30- 11 p.m. on December 12 and 13. Journey to Bethlehem is an outdoor walking tour that portrays the true story and meaning of Christmas. Travel back in time and experience a live reenactment of the people, places and circumstances that surrounded the birth of Jesus Christ. Parking will be available at Capital Region's Southwest Campus, 1432 Southwest Blvd. Shuttles will provide transportation to and from the event. Cookies and hot chocolate will be served. Experience “SILVER BELLS AND REINDEER TALES: The History of Christmas Traditions” at the Missouri State Museum on Saturday, December 13. Join our interpreter as we discover the influence the Victorian era had in developing our modern holiday celebrations. Mike Kehoe Great 8 Classic and Unilever Lady Jay Holiday Classic

The 17th annual Mike Kehoe Great 8 Classic will be held at Jefferson City High School and the 13th annual Unilever Lady Jay Holiday Classic will be held at Lewis and Clark Middle School.
